I'm excited that you are thinking about taking music lessons or are planning on giving the gift of music lessons to a loved one. A little bit about me so you can understand how my teaching benefits my students: I went to DePaul University in Chicago,IL and studied Music (voice) and Religious Studies. I have been teaching guitar, voice, banjo, drum and piano lessons professionally for four years, however, I've been teaching on and off again for over ten. Through that time I've taught diverse groups of people, all with different skill levels. No matter where you are on your musical journey or who you are, I can help get you where you want to go! I also have extensive experience as a professionally touring musician. If you are looking to start playing with a band, professionally or otherwise, I can help you on that path. Remember: it doesn't matter what skill level you are now! I can help you get there!
*** Lesson Details ***
I believe that every lesson should be fun and comfortable! Depending on the students age and skill level, I pick out books that work for each student, and also ask the student to bring in a piece that they want to work on. Maybe we can learn that new radio hit or the oldie but a goodie that you've been wanting to learn for years! However, learning from books or internet videos alone do not offer the kind of one on one attention students need while learning an instrument. I have the experience needed and a unique curriculum that is based off of understanding the student's musical goals. For beginners, I teach basic techniques and chords through easy songs to get the student playing as soon as possible.Learning music has to be fun! I am a very laid back and believe that learning music involves good communication, having an open mind, and the desire to have fun and LEARN! So I can be very laid back while interacting with students and their families. However, learning to play an instrument takes a lifetime of practice. Even the pros practice every day! Therefore, practice is a vital part of taking lessons and something I take very seriously.
